FUNDRAISING: Those of us with long experience in Haiti want to ensure assistance is getting where it is needed. We are compiling a list of organizations whose work on the ground we have direct experience with.
This list is incomplete but we will update as we get in contact with local organizations and help them set up fundraising channels. If you have a suggestion send a PM with contact information.
Each of these organisations is based / established in the affected communities and on the ground right now providing critical support. 100% of funds donated will go to people affected by the Hurricane.

About: On giving to help Haiti after this earthquake, many have said that we should not repeat the mistakes of the past and make sure we know how the money we give is used. Many have suggested giving to smaller groups with resources on the ground that understand and listen to what’s needed versus larger groups that have high overhead and often make bad decisions from afar or by people unfamiliar with Haiti. I agree wholeheartedly. However this isn’t easy until you are actually here in Haiti and see who is doing what. On that note, some of us have started a facebook page to highlight groups, people, or programs we know first hand have resources on the ground and are providing relief cost-effectively in the areas impacted by the hurricane. If you know first hand of good work or responsible groups who have the capability and resources to deliver support in Haiti, please post it this page (it will be moderated).
