Maria Sten was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to a Danish mother and Congolese father, who were both artists.
Raised by her mother, Maria grew up surrounded by creativity and took a very early interest in the Arts. As a child, she started doing theater in school, and participated in a youth acting program at Scandinavian Theater School. Throughout her school years, Maria took vocal lessons, learned to play various instruments, and trained in dance styles ranging from ballet to krumping. She also did competitive horseback riding, and even enjoyed a short successful stint as a gymnast at a very young age.
After graduating high school at 17, Maria Sten moved to New York City to pursue a Performing Arts career in the US. She continued to study dance in New York, and worked with vocal coaches on techniques like vocal stamina and stage performance.
Since coming to the US, Maria has worked all over the country, performing her own original songs, modeling runway shows, shooting for major publications, and performing countless dance shows, in addition to acting.
Maria also holds the title of Miss Denmark Universe 2008 and competed in Miss Universe 2008 in Vietnam.
In 2012, she moved to Los Angeles to submerge herself fully in the craft of acting and continues to work on her craft while working in the industry.
Maria Sten’s early passion for art, combined with an unyielding thirst for knowledge and skills, has carried her to far corners of the world. She explores the dimensions of humanity by experiencing and studying various cultures, languages, art, music and musical theater, which along with her broad training has made her an all-rounded performer fit for stage, film, television and voice work.
