Education in Ghana consists of 3 parts: basic education, secondary level, and tertiary education. Children start education at the age of 3 or 4 in kindergarten, but formal education starts at the age of 6 when basic education starts. The government provides free education in public schools, wherein 80% of the schools’ resources are shouldered by the government.
About 95% of children in high school age attend school, giving Ghana one of the highest school enrollment in Africa.
