Polygenic Inheritance

Polygenic inheritance occurs when one characteristic is controlled by two or more genes. Often the genes are large in quantity but small in effect. Examples of human polygenic inheritance are height, skin color, eye color and weight.

Based on the true story of Sandra Laing, a light-skinned, African looking girl born to two white parents in South Africa. Sandra is expelled from an all-white school after being classified as “coloured”, she is later reclassified as “white”, and spends her life trapped between the two societies in apartheid South Africa.
