Guadeloupe-born Véronique de la Cruz  Crowned Miss France in 1993, she broke new ground as she led the way for other black women.

 

 

“De la Cruz grew up on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe and in 1993 traveled to her spiritual homeland to enter the Miss France contest. Being named the first Miss France of color started a revolution and deep-rooted determination which spurred her career into fashion.

French designer Véronique de la Cruz grew up on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, and has mixed her love of the beach with her passion for fashion in her collection for Aquarella Swimwear.
