The pyramid was found in an area of the mid-Atlantic that has been estimated to be underwater for about 20,000 years. Reports from the Portugese American Journal claim archeologists from the Portuguese Association of Archaeological Research (APIA) have found archaeological evidence on Pico island supporting the notion that human occupation of the Azores predates the arrival of the Portuguese by several thousands of years.

Researchers have discovered an underwater pyramid 60 meters high and 8000 meters square base near the Bank De João de Castro, between the islands of Terceira and São Miguel.
The structure was identified by the sailor Diocleciano Smith (in this video) based on bathymetry readings. The author does not believe that the pyramid is of natural origin.
The matter is already being investigated with the support of the Portuguese Navy.

140 pyramids studied by the archaeologists in the Madalena area of Pico Island, Azores. Some of these structures reach about 13 meters (43 feet) high. The new evidence comprises of a great variety of protohistoric pyramidal rock structures.
They believe the structures may have been built according to an oriented plan, aligned with the summer solstices, which suggests they were built with an intended purpose.
The archaeologist has also claimed his findings have been published in scientific magazines and presented at international conferences with great acceptance by the international scientific community.
The archaeological findings in the Azores were presented at the XV Congress SUM 2011, Archaeology of the Mediterranean, which was held at the University of Catania (Sicily, Italy), with the particpation of archaeologists from the APIA.

There are so many blogs, websites and news reports on this discovery and others similar to it, because of the new technology we all now have. Things like this can be easily discovered. What I don’t understand is why information like this is not in the mainstream news? Even the government from these archaeological sites confirms & recognize their existence. What’s going on?
